Choosing a career isn’t just about picking a job—it’s about building a life. Whether you're a student exploring your future, someone navigating a career change, or simply feeling unsure about your next step, career counselling and guidance can offer clarity, confidence, and direction.

What is career counselling and guidance?
Career counselling (also known as career guidance) helps you make informed and meaningful decisions about your learning, work, and life direction. It involves:
One-on-one conversations with a trained professional
Exploration of your interests, strengths, values, and options
Support in making decisions, setting goals, and planning your next steps
Engaging in career counselling and guidance supports your career development—a lifelong process of gaining the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage your career and adapt to change.
What Are the Benefits?
Career counselling and guidance help people navigate life, learning, and work. By seeking support, you can:
1. Develop insight: understand yourself better by discovering your strengths, interests, and values—so you can make life choices that align with who you are.
2. Explore pathways: learn about your options by exploring career ideas—so you can identify study, training, and career options that are a good fit for you.
3. Make informed, confident decisions: Cut through confusion and information overload to evaluate options, gain direction, and decide on a trajectory.
4. Take action to build your future: Implement a plan to lay the foundation you need to reach your life and career goals.
5. Build your competencies: Cultivate your adaptability and confidence and learn how to write CVs and job applications, search for work, and prepare for interviews.
People who receive structured career support can experience higher confidence and fulfilling long-term career outcomes.
Why We Offer Virtual Support Over 12 Weeks
At Trajectories, we support young Kiwis and career changers through virtual career guidance—because everyone deserves easy access to support that helps them navigate their future. We take a comprehensive approach to career guidance and development by offering:
6 one-on-one sessions with a career guidance specialist
6 hours of practical support to ensure you have the information needed to make informed career choices
4 self-directed development modules to support your journey
Because career decisions aren't made overnight, spacing the sessions out allows time for reflection, action, and progress between each step. It also means we can respond to real-life questions and challenges as they come up, building momentum overtime.
The 12-week framework supports ongoing development—not just a one-off conversation.
